1. Cancellation by the guest
1.1
If you need to cancel your booking, you must let us know in writing (email is fine) as soon as possible. The date we receive your written notice is the date used to calculate any cancellation charges.1.2
Because it can be difficult to re‑let the cottage at short notice, the following charges will apply based on how many days before your arrival date you cancel:60 days or more before arrival – loss of deposit only.
30–59 days before arrival – 50% of the total rental cost is payable.
15–29 days before arrival – 75% of the total rental cost is payable.
0–14 days before arrival – 100% of the total rental cost is payable.
(You can adjust these bands if you prefer a “14 days free then 100%” model like some cottage operators, but the tiered approach above is common.)
1.3
If you cancel and we are able to re‑let the cottage for some or all of your dates, we will refund what you have paid, minus either your non‑refundable deposit or a reasonable administration / re‑marketing fee, and any difference in price between your booking and the replacement booking.1.4
We will refund any direct costs we will no longer incur because of your cancellation (for example, cleaning and estimated utility costs), where these have been charged separately.2. Travel insurance
2.1
We strongly advise all guests to take out suitable travel / holiday insurance when they book, to cover the risk of needing to cancel due to illness, bereavement, transport disruption or any other unforeseen event.2.2
If you choose not to take out insurance, you accept responsibility for any loss you may incur as a result of needing to cancel your holiday.2.3
We are happy to provide written confirmation of payments made and cancellation charges to support an insurance claim if required.3. Cancellation by us (Cottages at Lislagan / CAN)
3.1
In the unlikely event that we need to cancel your booking (for example, because the property becomes unavailable or unsafe due to fire, flooding, major maintenance issues or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control), we will notify you as soon as possible.3.2
You may then choose either:a full refund of all amounts you have paid to us for that booking, or
to transfer your booking to alternative available dates (any difference in price will be payable or refunded, as applicable).
3.3
Our liability will not extend beyond the amount you have paid for the booking; we are not responsible for any additional costs such as travel, insurance or other arrangements you have made.4. Changes to your booking
4.1
If you wish to change your dates or cottage after your booking has been confirmed, please contact us in writing. We will do our best to accommodate changes, but this will depend on availability and may involve additional charges if the new dates are priced differently.4.2
If we are unable to accommodate your requested changes and you choose to cancel instead, our standard cancellation terms will apply.
